Self-Study Mini-Courses

We have recently hired a Coordinator of Instructional Assessment. One of the reasons I felt we needed a person in this role is because my knowledge of assessment is, at the current time, lacking. I wanted to learn more in order to help foster a culture of assessment at our institution. We decided to have a reading group that met weekly or bi-weekly. We selected the readings beforehand, and then set up meeting times once a week for one hour for 16 weeks, which is the normal length of a college course. Before the meetings, we read the article or watch the webinar, and then fill out a form, which you can find here. During the meeting, we discuss the reading and think about how it would affect our current situation here at ECU. We have also invited another person from our administrative team to take part in the mini-course. All of us will attend an assessment-related conference in late October, so we are hoping to all get on the same page before attending the conference. So far, it has been most helpful! Here is our bibliography. We have swapped a few readings out and since we paid for the webinar we watched this week, I have not included that.
